The game in 100 words (or less): New York City FC opened up MLS play at Yankee Stadium with the first win in club history, defeating defending Eastern Conference champion New England Revolution 2-0. Over 43,000 fans packed the historic ballpark and were not disappointed, as David Villa put the hosts ahead within 20 minutes. It was Villa’s first goal in MLS and highlighted a great day for the NYCFC skipper, as he looked dangerous for all 90 minutes. The margin of victory could have been greater if not for a stellar performance by Revs’ keeper Bobby Shuttleworth.
