On Monday, April 27 at 19:03 EDT a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket left Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40 or “SLICK-40”) carrying the TurkmenAlem52E/MonacoSat 1 communications satellite for Thales Alenia and the Turkmenistan government and provide communications for Central Asia. Launch is all the way at the end at 1:08:54.
The first launch of the Arianespace Ariane 5 for 2015 was completed successfully as flight VA222 lifted off from launch site Ensemble de Lancement Ariane-3 (ELA-3) with a dual payload of satellites. The THOR-7 satellite will supply communication services for the maritime sector, broadcast and television for Telenor. SICRAL-2 satellite will supply communication services for the French.

With the burn up of Venus Express in late 2014-early 2015, one of our two eyes to the inferior (inner) planets was extinguished. Unfortunately, it seems that this week, by the end of April, after nearly 11 years in space and more than 4 years and 4,000 orbits around Mercury, MESSENGER will meet its fate as well.
