Black and White: Animals!

Happy Thursday day, all! Here’s my entry for this week’s Black and White Challenge!

I dug through my Flickr stream to find these photos from a trip to the Columbus Zoo a few years back. Enjoy! Columbus Zoo BW 5-31-2014 11-43-09 AM

Here’s my submission for this week’s OWPC, this nice-looking polar bear knickknack I got from the Columbus Zoo.

February One Four Challenge — Week the Fourth

It’s the final week of this month’s One Four, and here’s my entry!

Once again, nothing too fancy; just opened it in Paint.NET, started with Auto-Level as usual, then applied a little Vignette.
Once again, nothing too fancy; just opened it in Paint.NET, started with Auto-Level as usual, cropped around the watering hole as in Week 2, then applied a little Vignette.

In case you missed any of my previous entries:

I’ve have a good time with this challenge. I think I did pretty well the basic tools in Paint.NET, but later this week, I’m gonna check out its website and see what kind of plugins I’d like to use.

UPDATE (7:51 pm): Just looked through Paint.NET’s plugins forum, and they look a little advanced for my blood right now 😛 So I’m gonna hold off on that and just use the built-in tools next month.

February One Four Challenge Week 2

Another week, another One Four Challenge.

My first post.

This week, I used Paint.NET. I started with Auto-Level, which I think really brought out the blue in the sky. Then I cropped it to bring the watering hole closer, and dialed back on the brightness some.

My First One Four Challenge — Feb. Week 1

After having been exposed to the One Four Challenge (Thanks, Cee! 🙂 ), I’ve decided to take a crack at it myself.

Here's the base image, taken on a trip to the Columbus Zoo's Heart of Africa area last June.

Here's my first edit, just some quick-and-dirty tweaks with some tools in Picasa. I started with the I'm Feeling Lucky function, then did a little Sharpen, and finished with Warmify.

Inside: My First Word A Week Challenge Post! (With Bonus Vid)

Like the title says, this is my first crack at the Word A Week Challenge. It’s also a good excuse to put up some pics of my recent trip to the Columbus Zoo that I’ve been meaning to put up here.

This is the entrance to the polar bear exhibit in the Polar Frontier area. While I was there, I managed to get video of this:

I’ve got lots more pics from the trip; I’ll get them all up eventually. ^_^

Sunday Stills — In The Air Over The Columbus Zoo

On a church-sponsored trip to the Columbus Zoo this past Saturday, I spotted a blimp overhead and took a shot with my phone. As luck/fate/destiny/the Cosmic Owl would have it, this week’s Sunday Stills theme is “In The Air.”

There's a blimp up there, you just have to look real hard.

I took a lot more pics at the Zoo; I’ll put them up soon, I promise! 🙂
